Hi I own a 90 camaro v6 but mine was doin the same thatyour's is doin. I took it to a mechanic and they said Distributor is gone the pick coil wasn't responding so try checking your's I will buy a new one soon and put it in and let you know if thats the problem with mine.
Have you checked your PCV valves lately? Supposed to be changed every 3 oil changes or so... they can cause this. Its a 3 dollar part and can cause a lot of stress if not maintained.
Most common problems: the Catalic converter is plugged, or not enough fuel pressure (to check-turn key to ON position, you'll hear the fuel pump priming for 3-5 seconds, once it stops, unscrew the valve cap from the fuel rail (located on the rear pass. side of engine) andusing a reg. screwdriverpush down on the valve just like you would do to let air out of a tire, gas should spray up and hit the hood, if it don't or if it piddles out, your fuel pump is bad. TPI's have 45psi of pressure, which is needed to feed through the injector's. If that's ok then it could be the Mass Air Flow sensor.check to see if the "service engine soon" lightstays on when it does try to run, if so you'll need to get check to service code(s) it has to see wantsthe problem sensor wise.
