Hmm, after you drain the rad and block completely (i changed my water pump) and fill er back up how many times do you think youd have to top up the coolant just "that little bit" before she burps enough to get all that air out... because after runnin the car up to temp twice ive had to add maybe a litre each time ... maybe a head gasket gone or someone is stealing my expensive long life coolant : | lol

 

That is how those silly things work, just make sure you didn't leave a drain open.

 

This may seem like a silly question.... how much coolant does your car need? There is a chance that you still need to add more, they hold alot.

a stuck thermo wouldnt keep draining the coolant. I usually buy 2 gallons of the NON MIXED coolant. Then use two old milk jugs or something and mix it there. TADA! 4 gallons. That will get the job done. How far are you filling it in the reserviour? ( spelling,,,, that tank on the side) Maybe try goin a little big above the FULL HOT mark. When i did that. it seemed like it was a good week before it was keeping a consistant amount in the tank. Keep a mixed batch in the back somewhere and watch your temp. When you stop for work or something. before you leave from work check your levels. Fill it up if needed

might be your heatercore but im sure you would notice the build up of coolant in your passenger side floor board. goodluck
