Default Can a T5 handle 330hp....

i am currently putting a freshly rebuilt lt1 with an edelbrock performer intake with a mild cam in my 91 z28. not sure what carb i will use yet.

all i have heard about the t5, is that it cant handle the horsepower, just curious if built right it can handle the power(about 330hp).

thanks

hp is not the prob. the prob is the torque. like rancho said if u beat it like it stole something then no but it should be alright to cruise. mines still holding up *fingers crossed*

Almost anything will hold up, as long as you don't wear your lead-lined right shoe, or do a lot of stupid hole-shots.

i understand it the torque that is the problem, but i am not quite sure how much torque i will be pushing. i know with that motor it will be much more though,

hell the tread on my right shoe is completly wore off....

i just don't want to rebuild the tranny and in two weeks it breaks because it is a piece. i just want to make sure if built up it will be ok

thanks all

here, get this if you want to have a T-5 that will last

http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/as...per-t-5-a.html

looks like it should hold to about 525btq, claimed anyways. plus it's only $1800 for a full trans.

If GM had concerns about 5-sp durability (warranty consideration costs) what makes you think it would work. Or install a 5-sp and don't abuse it, but GM knew that would not happen.
