Default Auto Transmission Kick Down Cable Adj.

Anyone have the procedure for adjusting the cable from the carb. to the transmission that controls shifting. I have a recent purchase 85 with a 305 and the carb. was replaced by the previous owner and the cable is out of adjustment. Hard shifts on light throttle.
Thanks Bob

You might want to find out if there is any kind of shift kit in the Trans
My 85 has hard shifts on light throttle but I have a stage 3 shift kit now I am having trouble getting the Trans to down shift right

That TV cable is more than just for kickdown, it also controls fluid pressure in the trans and proper adjustment is critical. With the engine off, push in on the recessed"D" shaped metal tab in the slider housing, and push the cable housing towards the firewall. Thenopen the throttle all the way and the TV cable housingis supposed to ratchet forward to where it wants to be. Mine didn't budge on it's own, so I pulled the black tab of the TV cable (where it's mounted on the throttle arm) forward whileI opened the throttle and then it ratcheted forward. Basically, the TV cable wants to be pulled all the way out when you'reat W.O.T.
