Default Auto Shifter Cable

It's a long story, but the problem is finding the spot on the transmission tunnel to drill a hole for the auto shift cable. I have found the dimples on the tunnel that the shifter and console mount to, but not the cable. Any ideas?

Default RE: Auto Shifter Cable

What you can do is set your shifter on a table and let the cable housing hang off the edge. Slide the base of the shifter back until the cable touches the table top to help make sure you're not causing the cable to flex down. While laying a ruler flat on the table, take a horizontal measurement forward from the front of the shifter's mounting flange until the ruler intersects with the center of the cable housing. When you know where the front edge of your shifter is going to be on the tunnel, measure forward of that point with the cable measurement you came up with earlier.
