Took the engine out of kids car and thought we would tear it down to see what we would find. Took oil pan off and the oil was like syrup. Found long shards of metal in bottom of pan and in oil screen. I knew that spelled trouble. Off came intake and valve covers. I have never seen so much crud and sludge on everything. It was thick. Now the heads. My god. Carbon on the heads and on the pistons. Also on the valve stems bad. Now the good part. Pulled the crank main bearing caps. Found the 3 in the middle spun. Thats were the metal came from. The ends were ok, but one had some small grooves in the crank. Haven't pulled the rod ones yet, so I don't know what they are or how much is left of the crank. This will probably be going in the scrap pile. The previous owner must have not took any kind of care. Oh yeah did find out that it is a 305/5L. On back of block found GM5.0LG.

 

Man what a horror story ........... couldn't help but cringe the whole time while reading this .......
