Default Alternator help

Can someone tell which alternator goes into a 85 Z28 with the H code engine. Mine has a 63 amp one in, but Ive read that it should have a 96 Amp in it. Any help would be appreciated. I think this might be my problem. Thanks

Are you experiencing charging issues? The higher amp alternator is typical for A/C and more power optioned vehicles.

If you are going to replace the alternator go with the 105 amp, this one was used on
TPI cars.

Based on what you said in your electrical problem post, you may have a bad ground. Check the negative terminal at the battery for corrosion, as well as any battery to frame to body grounds. For fun, you might as well check the positive connection on the battery and the junction block right near the battery.

Well you were right, turns out to be a bad ground, a wire was broken inside the covering, so I could not see it. It was the small wire that comes off the negative cable from the battery. Thanks to all that replied.
