1991 RS steering wheel
I have a 1991 RS with an air bag in the wheel. The wheel is kind of ratted out and I would like to put a different wheel on the car. I went to my local auto parts store and they told me that Grant does not make a mounting kit for any cars with a air bag in the wheel. the air bag is no longer an issue. Could any of you please tell me any way around the "no installation kit available" on my 91 rs for an after market steering wheel.

air bags saved my daughter's life. I suggest asking your parents if they want you to have no air bag
the best way to fix that ratty steering wheel
www.amazon.com
look for wheelskins steering wheel covers. They aren't cheap and cost about $40, are leather and you lace them on. It takes about an hour to install but they look factory and are awesome

lol. Now this thread is starting to make me laugh!
It's supposed to be illegal to remove factory installed safety equipment, unless you have written permission from the NTSB. To get that, you need a good reason, such as having a disability that could make an airbag a detriment, or if you're very short and need to sit dangerously close to the steering wheel. "But it's my car, and I can do what I want, who's gonna tell on me"? That's true to an extent, and if you're injured in a crash from not having an airbag that you removed, that's your own fault. But, what if somebody else drives your car, is in a crash, and is badly injured? They can come after you legally and claim they wouldn't have gotten injured had there been an airbag in place. Just know what you could be getting into if you do what you're wanting to do.
On the flipside of that, if your car is in a crash and the airbags are deployed, there's no law that forces you to install replacement airbags. So if you want to remove the bag legally, run the car up a tree!

I did not say to ask permission
I simply stated that airbags saved my daughters life and then said to ask your folks if they would like you to have airbags. If mine were still alive I'm sure they would want me to have airbags in all of our cars
get a wheelskin cover and you'll be happy with it

I now see what you're saying about what you said you said earlier, see? And I saw it the same way he said he saw it, as permission to see what his parents say. Guess we all read and see things differently.
