RE: Starts than cuts out!
Are you sure yours isn't MPFI? If it's original it should be and checking the fuel pressure is quite easy. The test port is at the rear of the upper intake plenum with a cap. It's kinda hidden but it's there. The test gauges aren't that expensiveif you can't borrow one.Do you have any engine codes?

alright than it probalby is MPFI if they come stock like that. No, no codes thats whats so strange about this I believe the mechanic got one code at some point at least thats what he said. It was for a MAP sensor which has been replaced now and still runs the same. Hasn't gotten anymore more codes though.

As Pete suggested, have your mechanic check the fuel pressure regulator. He can do a quick check by removing the vacuum hose going from the fuel/reg to the back of the throttle body. Have him test it with a handvacuum pumptesterto checkfor leaks. But if fuel seeps out of the vacuum hose when removed then it's clear that your fuel reg. is leaking and allowing the extra fuel into the intake manifold for the rich condition.

Alright I think the mechanic found the problem it is the distributor its bad they tested it and the pick up coil wasn't responding. I will change it out soon once I get some money and let you all know.
