The Camaro Cuts Off!!!
I'm thinking about buying a camaro, but it cut off while is was driving it yesterday. The motor is a rebuilt 350, but it cut off when I wasn't in the gas. It has an Edllebrock carburateur and intake. I think its the carburateur, but not sure. Can anyone help me.

not much to work with on that description, were gonna need more info!! edelbrock makes a good carb but you have to remember they are only as good as the other fuel components supplying it( fuel pump, filter, lines etc.) did it start right back up?? what year is it?? what kind of distributor?? did it spit and sputter for awhile and then die or was it immediate?? were gonna need a lot more details if you want us to help you kurt

Yeah it started right back both times it cut off. Its an 1985 iroc. It just died without warniing. I don't know what kind of distributor. I think it may be the float in the carb, because it cut off once while turning and once while going down a hill. If this sounds right let me know. And I need to know if and how to fix it, because i've never worked on a carb. Thanks

[8D]if its got edelbrock parts then ill assume most if not all the emissions parts have been removed and were probably working with an hei type distributor( or does it have a separate coil on the fire wall or elsewhere) whats the idle speed (rpm) set at?? please dont start messing with the carb especially if you have never worked on them!! has it been dying while under load or with your foot off the gas??

The only car that has ever cut out on me while off the throttle was my 64 chevelle. It ended up being the neutral safety switch. If it's an auto, you might want to check that out. I fixed it by bypassing the switch with a piece of insulated wire lol.

the floats sound right if its happening around turns and stuff, also could be the fuel filter is bad, or you simply have the idle set too low. if thats the case, and you are out of the throttle itll die, or when a vacuum accessory, like power brakes is applied, itll kill it as well
