got the ignition down now i got flooring it problems

From:

check your throttle valve cable. its located rigt by the throttle body. with wop (wide open pedal) it should be tight like a guitar string. check that.

I always wondered what that word meant? How come you hear it a lot in Italiano movies though? Are so many "opening" their pedals?
