Default 87 2.8 V6, which engines can i swap into it

My engine just blew on the v6, are there any other engine sizes that I can drop right into it, or should I stick with the v6. Its a 87 2.8 multiport blah blah blah LT. any help is much appreciated.

to "drop right in" u have to stay v6. if ur ok with tools a v8 is no prob. to drop in just some minor work. but its well worth it.

not nessicarily, i dropped in a GM Performance 350 into my RS. i blew it up and dropped the v6 back in and am now building the 350 into a 377. use factory mounts for a 305/350 and you won't have a problem. the transmission WON'T bolt up to a sbc though. different bell housing bolt patterns

I think I saw a post on using a 3.4 short block with the 2.8 heads and intake. I think it will only add about 20 hp but it will give you a lot more usable torque at the low end.

if you're going to swap in a 3.4 block, just swap on some 3500 heads. 245bhp all motor.

and it was 3.4 with 3.1 heads. the 2.8's heads would limit the powerband to almost 4k rpm.

Always cheaper on gas with a V6 lol.
Not to steal the thread, but 1990, how much would it cost to swap in a 3.4 with 3500 heads?

Wont he have to change the wireing and alot of other things to his car if he swaps out his 2.8 with a 350? I was planning on doing the same with my 89 RS but people keep telling me its not worth it because its to much work.
