Needing info
I'm wanting to swap a manual trans in my 86 camaro. It with have a 350 swapped into it also. What kind of trans should I go with that won't kill the bank? 4 speed, or 5 speed,? The motor will have a carb on it. Any info will help.

The WC T5 is good for a little under 300 Ft lbs of torque. That is the most common and the cheapest trans you will find with overdrive. GM never put the T5 behind a 350 because they did not think it could handle it. The 305 is the only V8 GM put the T5 behind. It did mostly V6s
You can find 4 speeds that are stronger. The Borg Warner T10 4 speed or just about anything Muncie. The 4 speeds are cheaper then they were 10 years ago because of the 6 speeds.
6 speeds are another option but they tend to kill the bank.
If you are going to have any decent torque you want to completely avoid Saginaw and early 80's Pre WC T5s.
