Hello all this is my first post I’m getting an 86 with a v6 i would like to put in a 305 or 350 it’s an automatic and I’ve read I will also need to replace the transmission I want to lose all the emissions and computers it will be a pre 82 v8. Any advice is welcome and appreciated Thanks

Big task you have because I believe, the front crossmember may need to be changed also. Others here may know more.
But, check with state rules as IF Camaro is registered as a regular driver, it may be subject to the latest year of emissions, i.e., 86 would prevail over pre-82.
Otherwise, register it as an 'Antique' and avoid these rules, maybe.
