Well, with the 350 swap done I took her on the maiden voyage tonight. Everything looked fine, but I think shes running a bit hot. She seemed to hover in the 230-240 range. Never went higher, but its still relativly cool outside. Im running a 1977 350 with headersin a 82 Z28 if that helps any. (just mentioned the headers because Ive heard people say they make the engine run hotter)

That is a little warm specialy when its cool out. Stop and go traffic behind other cars? How well is your fan working? What temp t-stat did you use? Do you have the air deflector under the car?

 

Fan is working, some of the air dams are still missing. (Actually less restrictive this way.) Gauges: Oil is a Sunpro replacement. Temp- stock dash guage but I had to use a different sending unit. Maybe the older sending unit is calibrated a bit differently?

 

my stock 91RS ran 210 and would get warmer at a traffic lights.

What about running a electric fan?

 

When I bought my 88, the air dam underneath the car was snapped off and it would run pretty hot (220-240) on a nice day (60 degrees). I haven't had a problem since I replaced that air dam, and it's been75-80 degreesaround here. It got close to 200 degrees since then but no higher. So if that is broken, you should replace it.

 

That is excatly right!
Gm's R&D put those there for a reason. They direct the air where its needed.
The sunpro gauges are poop! It may be new but not accurate.

 

I had the same issue with the 87 IROC 5.7, bought the air dam and it worked much better. I alsostill havea problem with the electrical fans though. What thermostat do you have?
