What all would i need to go from Auto to Stick ?
1st, What speeds are there ? 4 - 6 ? for a 1991 camaro RS. My 700R4 is about to take a crap. And it is simply because of the fact of I like dropping my gears down to slow the car down too often.. It is starting to make a pinging sound almost like a quick tick tick tick tick tick tick ..etc ... but what all would I need to convert from and automatic to a manual tranny ? And what would be the ball park price range ?

depending on the year all 3gen's came with a 4 or 5 speed manual or a 3or 4 speed automatics
you are going to have to call the gunk yard unless your think about getting it allnew ???
i think you should just stick with what you have a 700r4 is a good transmission but if i where you i would get it rebulit and put in a shift kit that will take care of your problem
and i dont understand why your droping the gears just use your brake
that sound might be your universal joint smell your transmission fuild if it smells burnt then i would suspect your transmission

I know this doesn't answer your questions, but I have an auto 700R4 tranny with a shift kit and I enjoy it.
I only have a 305 but I can bark them tires through second. I would rather have a stick, but it seems to expansive and to much work to swap it out. The cost I dunno, but would like to know myself.

The reason your transmission is dying is because of the fact you like to shift it manually, as said in your other post. That is not good for the gears, AT ALL! Neutral drops are extremely bad too. Downshifting manually is not problem. If you want to go manual, I have a 5spd transmission with pedals and everything. Do you have a v6 or a 305? If you want to go auto, just get your 700r4 rebuilt or put a turbo 400 in.

hey man, if he wants to convert his car to stick you shouldnt put it down. converting to a stock camaro 5 spd drivetrain is a lot cheaper than buying another camaro thats 5 speed, especially with how good of condition his car is in right now. if your set on stick, you will need the brake and clutch pedal assembly from amanual camaro/firebird, clutch fluid resevoir, slave cylinder, clutch, flywheel, bellhousing, trans, driveshaft, shifter, and possibly the console or at least the shift plate from a manual. its a lot of work, theres a bunch of how to articles on the net about doing it. but if you have the desire and the patience it can be done.
