Heads-175 used
head machine work- 120 to surface, 100 to cut guides=220
Cam, lifters and springs from Jegs= 275
intake manifold-125
misc gaskets-75
headbolts-30
May still need pushrods, dont know yet, havnt measured....
Im a little drunk right now and am forgetting some small items....

Time spent finding out these dont just bolt on.........priceless...

So before I post a new thread, maybe someone can tell me what the actual headbolts are tightened too?

Ive seen three steps of ft-lb torquing, and Ive seen torque and then angle.......which one do I do?

yea, you could make a good price comparo for buying aftermarket heads vs. swapping to vortecs. and if you went to a roller cam, you will need push rods. if you are using a flat tappet, you will probably still need push rods since the heads were resurfaced and the probablity of the rocker stud being at a different height

There are two versions of the 'ghetto grind', one involves the guides, the other the keepers. Regardless, I opted to have the guides machined. Im tired of dikin with this project and at this point I wasted a ton of money, whats a ton more!

It sounds like you are going about it the right way so I doubt it is a waste of money. Also the Vortecs will have some decent resale value when you go to upgrade.
