Default transmision?

ok so i pullrd my 305 out...put the 350 togeather. i was trying to make this a one night swap when i ran into a prob.. the flex plate for the 305 is diff than the 350.. so i had to order a 350 one an it's not going to be here till 930 tonight. but my question is how do i tell what transmision i have? the car is a 91 RS automatic.. i thought that some one here told me that i had 700R4 but two of the guys that i work with said it's not.. that it;s to small to be one.. any help?

All late model 3rd gen Automatic cars were 700R4. Also the flex should be the same for a Auto 305/ 350 ....157 teeth.

It is a 700R4 or later on called 4L60.
Why did your flex plate not work?

well your co worker is so darn smart ask him what it is or tell em shut the hell up!
The 700r4/4L60 will have a TV cable and a square electrical connector with 4 plugs in it. And a square pan with 16 bolts.

Did you happen to have the flex plate turned around?

There should be a hole near the dipstick tube with a hook in it. That is for the cable. And I dont think anything else uses the square plug.
