Default Hitch

I just bought a hitch off of a 1984 Pontiac Trans Am, I only had to trim the bottom lip off of the carbon fiber reinforcement bumper absorber for clearance, then it bolted right up. So third and fourth generation cars are the same as far as hitches go. I didnt want to do this, but as of September 1 I am single, and she took the Suburban... You have to use what you have right? Best of all the hitch is like new, and it costed 30.00 off of Craigslist.

You'll be ok, but keep in mind that car will not last very long doing that. I'm not sure what you are riding, but a 250F/450F weighs 225-245 thats the mx version, an off road version weighs even more, plus with gear, gas, tools, water etc it doesn't take long to get to 500 lbs at all. Not the best on the motor or trans.

The part number for a Reese hitch is 77006 that brand says from 1982 to 2002 tongue weight is 200 LBS trailer wieght is 2000 LBS, Curt Manufacturing is part # 11117 the Curt hitch is rated for 100 LBS Tongue weight, or 1000 towing weight.
I have a 1987 IROC Z28 and want to install a hitch for bikes, camping, etc., and I have been unable to fine one which fits a single muffler, and two tail pipes, including the Curt 1117.

Please advise. Richard.

you can find trailer hitches out there in the junk yards, just have to search, or try craigslist/ebay,

I have one on my camaro Z28 with a 383, I use it to pull a jetski

I am looking to 'tow' a cargo basket, a bike rack and a surfboard rack, but I have a single muffler with dual exhaust tips, and can't find a hitch which will accommodate that muffler setup.

How did you get around that problem? did you find a trailer hitch which accommodates a dual exhaust tip set up?

Richard.

my buddy bought an LG4 bird that had one on it when he bought it, he had single muffler and dual pipes, but i think the previous owner had it made and put on at a hitch shop

the PO said he used it to pull a Tire Trailer to and from the track(and yes it was fully stock when my buddy got it), and the only time it pulled serious weight was when he moved from VA to MD and rented a Uhaul trailer to bring his stuff with him

anyways, junk yards are chock full of hitches, go pull a few From similar cars, one of them will either work, or need very little modification to work

Default hitch

My car has dual exhaust, and my hitch bolted up fine. The exhaust is in its stock location as well. When they say dual exhaust I think they are meaning the centered dual exhaust, on the 1998 to 2002 SLP cars with that package.

The online trailer hitch guys tell me there are not any for my two Camaros because of the years, 3rd Gen.

Let's not worry about the weight since he's not going to have it hooked up all the time. The car will be fine if he finds the right hitch. If you give 3 of your buddies a ride how much do you think they weight?
