Default Trailer Hitch

Ok okay, I know this is bad. But I need to put a trailer hitch on my Camaro.

I dont want to buy new as its kind of a rip off, but I was wondering if anyone knows if there is another vehicle that has the same or similar mounting, maybe I can pick one up cheap at Pick N' Pull.

Background: I just (like 5 minutes) picked up a Third Generation Camaro, white, V6, my parents dogs have been using it to look over the fence for a year now. It needs body work, a good interior clean and some new paint. I will post some pics of the build my dad and I complete.

CHeers!

if it is a 2.8 v6, dont even bother with the hitch because that motor will not pull more than 300 lbs. a 125 or 250 motocross bike is around 150lbs and even a single bike trailer is at least 250lbs. as far as a junkyard find, just ask someone at the junkyard. im sure one of them has probably made one for these cars out of something else.

Even if its the 3.1, it still wont have the power to pull much.

In the oner's manual, it specifically states that it doesn't recommend towing anything with one of these cars, even if it's a V8.

What were you planning on doing with it?

hello saint ebony,

finially an intelligent question. I am pulling a super light trailer with a dirtbike. Yes my v6 can pull it so dont think I dont what I am talking about it.. I just wanted to know if another car had a similar mount. But I can probably pick on off any of the others and cut it down to fit

Default Tow hitch

As far as I can tell, they fit from 1982 to 2002, the part numbers are the same from what I see online. I am looking to tow a small teardrop trailer with mine. I had a Suburban up until a few weeks ago until a break up with an ex girlfriend. Hey, you have to use what you have right? I now live in an apartment, so a second vehicle isn't an option. I like my Camaro too much to trade it for a truck, and it gets good mileage as well. The Firebird uses the same hitch I would believe. The part number for a Reese hitch is 77006 that brand says from 1982 to 2002 tongue weight is 200 LBS trailer wieght is 2000 LBS, Curt Manufacturing is part # 11117 the Curt hitch is rated for 100 LBS Tongue weight, or 1000 towing weight. Once whatever you have is up and moving, you should be fine as long as you treat it with respect. Like anything else, it is going to take longer to get going, and to stop.
