thos damm drop springs!!!!!!!! HELP
Plain and simple........ im replacing my front and rear spings and there is no room for compressers!! how do you get the spings back in?? well i have tryed leaving the a-arm on and just taking the shock off ,putting spring on a-arm ,then jacking the a-arm to position. but doing that you dont have the right angle to! help help help ! please
You need a spring compressor that goes inside the coil. They do work and fit. But I did the drop springs in mine. Pry bar to pop them out and snap the shorter ones on the a arm and a jack. But I have always done it with a pry bar even with stock springs so I have practice. Just watch the jewels.[:@]
Well the threaded end of the compressor kept hitting the top. So I chained the spring to the control arm. Got a piece of 1/4" steel and put an eye bolt at each end. I then put that piece under the jack and the jack on the a arm. I then ran an engine levelilng chain (just one) under the top control arm and back around then I compressed the spring that way. I then installed the calstle nut on the upper ball joint and then released the jack. The chain was just thin enough to be pulled out.
If you're still having problems finding a spring compressor of that type, I have one that I no longer have a use for.
