Default third gen engine and compartment

Hello ,I'm from Ohio, I work at a Ford dealership as a technician,
I am interested in getting a 3rd generation Camaro and want to build up a 350 engine..

Well at work today a lady who works in parts brought in her 95 LT1 camaro with a coolant leak, its head gaskets at 140,000 miles

getting the intake out was a chore, intake pays 4 hours from what my service department said, i don't work on chevys every day so for me it was difficult for my first time,
little room and now i have to get the heads out

My question is, are the third generation engine compartments any different? is it any more out i nthe open and not stuffed back under to cowl? thanks guys

In my 1986, it had the computer controlled Q-jet. I just cut every wire I did not need off and taped it and tucked it back in the harness sheathing so my engine compartment looked clean. I think your speedo should be mechanical on all third gens and your tach runs off the distributor so you should be ok. I have a mechanical water temp gauge, and yes I did pull the computer out of the car when I dropped my 350 in.

LOL that harness sure did get in the way when dropping the engine in. Then again when bolting the bellhousing to the block. I almost had to cut a whole in my floor board to get the last bolt in, but 24 swivels and 43 extensions and a few nice words laater I got it to start. Probably did not help that we pulled my 305, tottally built my 350, and had it painted and dropped in from 8:00 p.m. friday to about 11:00 a.m. sunday

Hope this helps.

the only thing is if you switch from FI to Carb, youll have to change the fuel pump and lines so not to drown the carb, especially if its a high pressure system TPI

If you change from efi to carb, you will loose your factory gauges.because for 90-92 they are electric reciveing there info from the ecm ie.your tac and speedo out puts.Plus if the car has antitheft (chipped key) you will have to rewire either the fuel or the starter I cant remember witch one becaues it also computer contoled.your best bet would be to pick a pre 1990 to convert or stick with the efi
