Default Theft System

I have a 91 Z28 convertible and i am wondering how the theft system on the car works. Like is there an alarm that sounds like a modern vehicle or what. Any help is appreciated.

If the key has a resistor chip, tha car has the factory VATS system. When the key is inserted in the lock the chip engages the contacts in the lock. The contacts are wired to the VATS module. The module reads the resitor value, and if it is value is correct, the VATS sends an all well signal to the ECM. The ECM then allows the starter to engage, and activates the fuel injectors. If the resistor value is not correct, the VATS does not signal the ECM, and the ECM disables the starter circuit and the injectors, and lights the security lamp. There is no audible alarm. If you have an after market alarm, you are on your own.
