sorry this has most likly been posted before but i couldn't find it. I am curious if any knows if i kin manual adjust my TBI maunual. or if it is stricly a electronic adjustment?? thanks for your input, btw i have a 1989 rs camaro with a 305

 

What do you want to adjust??

 

The TBI isn't something you can "fiddle" with like you can with a carb.
You can adjust the built-in fuel pressure regulator, but you have to go digging for it.
Under normal circumstances, you shouldn't have a need to "adjust" the TBI, the computer takes care of that.

 

i would like to adjust my fuel air mix, i kinda figured that it was a computer thing. just a rookie hoping for an easy way out. well then how difficult is it to go from tbi to carb??

Unless there is something wrong with the car, I don't know how you would get AF mixture better adjusted via a carb. Does your area require emissions testing?

 

well it depends man. if your tbi is not wore out and running good. clean it up real good and youll see an improvement right away. just rip it out nicely, carb clean it without wrecking anything and reinstall, i do that with any throttle body or TBI and it makes them run great.

IF you went to a carb, i wont say you can do better, but it really depends on how well you know the motor and your carb and if your willing to do away with some things. almost feels like a waist. but i know carbed cars can get better mileage and run better than this self adjusting crap out there. problem is people are idiots sometimes and dont make the car run good.

my 79 camaro is turn key in the dead of winter with 3 month old E10 gas and 20W50 oil... and it has a holley 1850 with a manual choke, and has the most crisp throttle response of any of our cars we own. but i been though hell learning how to tune it, and i readjust it every season-average temp change.

but dont be fooled with EFI or TBI being better than an old WORKING carb. my dad has a 98 2500 with a new vortec 350 and its EFI throttle body driven and gets 14mpg freeway and its a turd, and my friend has a 1970s era 2500 pickup with a 350 and a holley 750 and gets 16~20 freeway at its best. my 98 firebird gets 21~22mpg and its a 3.8L v6 and my 79 is a 305 V8 with a holley and they get about the same mileage, now i understand ratios transmissions and setups change mpg, but i just wanted to give you some food for thought bud.

easiest thing is hose out your TBI off the car with carb cleaner and a nice rag and im sure you will find something nice outa it.
