Default TBI intake

i would like to get a new intake for my camaro, however it is a TBI, i heard most of the intakes for TBI are very small horsepower gains, im putting a cam in it soon so i figure while i have it apart i mine as well just put the intake in it. Id like to get an intake with 10-20 hp gain if at all possible. If someone can send me any links or sugggestions itd be appreciated

are you wanting to stick with the OE TBI? Ive seen Holly makes a replacement throttle body thats a bit bigger, then youll have to get a new intake manifold too. Ive seen adapter plates to take the TBI and mount it on a standard carb manifold too. However i dont know how effective this is.

not sure, might be your 20 horse, might be more. ask holly about it, see if they have the numbers on horse increase

when i had my 305 tbi, i wanted more horsepower i put a set of 97 l31 heads on it and an edlebrock intake manifold but i had the shop i took it to switch my tbi out to a demon 750 carb, much much better than the stupid tbi setup and they said it wasnt hard at all to do i could have done it myself,

im pretty much working on the 300 hp 305 build up thread and seeing if i can do it, i just ordered the cam should be done with that in a couple of days, the car is a hell of alot faster than before my buddy has a 86 ss monte carlo with a 383 stroker with all the accesories and i can keep up with him now before he just destroyed me

im also working with a 92 that only has 75k miles on it so results could be different for everyone.

20 hp out of just an intake manifold is a good gain, especially since tbi manifolds arent very plentiful. however switching that tbi to a carb is simple as pie, then the mods go on forever about what you can do

why would you downgrade to a carb for hp gain? buy a decent dual plane intake get an adapter plate and upgrade to the holley tbi with the 2 inch ventura's instead of the 1.6 you should also switch heads for better flow do the cam and upgrade the exhaust to headers. really if your going to do one you need to do all as they work together to get the motor breathing better.

but whatever you do dont downgrade because its "easier" when really it isnt carbs are unpredictable and always need a tune depending on weather conditions so forth tbi adjust's itself to give you maximum effeciency from your intake system.

tpi is also bad without alot of modification it will only give you torque and fall flat on its face at around 4800 rpm. leaving your top end well non existant basicly
