i jus got a 92 camaro rs and sometimes have trouble starting it. the engine will crank over and everything sounds fine battery volts at about 12 wondering if this was a common problem and what i could do about it. thanks

 

Try cycling the ignition key ON & OFF several times without attemting to start the engine, leave the key on the ON position for 2-3 seconds each time. This will prime the fuel injection system. If the car starts OK right after this procedure, it indicates that the FI system is not holding pressure after the engine is shut down. If this is the case it could be due to a leaky injector, bad fuel pump check valve, bad pressure regulator, or an outright fuel leak.

 

thanks that seems to help sometimes but other times i can hear it prime and shut off then it will still not start right away or itll sound like one cylinder catches and the others dont and itll cut off and i have to try to start her agian.

 

one thing that i have noticed is that it wont start until the oil pressure starts to build up. is that normal because it usually means cranking it for 6-8 seconds. is this jus somethin i should deal with because i no that on most cars its not considered a problem unless the car has to crank for 15 or more seconds. any help would be appreciated
