Speedometer problems?

Default Speedometer problems?

I got problems with my speedometer when i'm moving its always 5-10 mph faster then how fast i'm actually going, I have stock tires & rims (I Think) And also where is the speedometer gear located in the transmission or the Differentials?

Has the rear end or tranny ever been changed? The speedo gear is in the tail shft houseing on the transmission

Naw the rear end hasn't been changed I don't think so anyways, I don't think the tranny has been changed either, I heard that 5 speeds didn't come in The IROC hardtops with the 350 engine.

I think the 5 speed 350 with out T tops was on the 1LE package. At least in 87 it was that way

i thought they didnt put the 5 speed behind the 350 at all?? just what ive heard..

I'm not so sure, i'm just going off the ad that I bought it from it said 350 could be 305.

I think it was just the 1LE race package that got the 350 with a 5 speed. Does it have any a/c or power accesories?

Yeah it has A/C power windows does the power lift gate count also? lol

BTW what about my speedometer? Should I just go get it calibrated or somethin?

Maybe some one added that tranny and did not swap the drive/driven gear(s) for the speedo. If you know what you rear gears are with your tire size you can find out what gears you need and check them with what you have. You would not need to count teeth because all the gears are color coded.
