speedo bounce
is there any way to keep my speedo from bouncing? around 70 mph, it flops back and forth about 5 mph and gets worse the faster i go. i was thinking maybe some white lithium grease would help on the gears?
If it only does it that fast, I dont really know how easy it is to take the cable out in one of these, but if you can take it out and take the cable out of the wrap, grease it and slide it back in, thats what I did in my bug and it stopped it. If it starts bouncing down at low speeds, it usually means its about to go.
my other car does it from 15-50, then stops, and that has a new cable. i can see some gears for the odometer, but im wondering if i should oil or grease the mechinism or if that would cause it to slip
Use grease, lube oil will wor its way into the spedometer. Do not grease the cable on the last 6" towards the speedometer, If grease gets into the speedometer mechanism it won't work right.
i wasnt going to lube the cable, but the actual speedo. it also makes a slight noise, the speedo itself, and i can hear it without my radio on
