Does your block have three bolt holes in the starter area? I had a problem, "I thought", when I picked up my remanufactured shortblock when I noticed the threads in one bolt hole seemed like a fubar hele-coil job. Thankfully my block had the three bolt hole pattern, so I traded my new starter in for another type with the other pattern, it worked out pretty good I would say.
