side pipes

using them instead of the side ground effects was another idea i thought or modifying the factory gfx and replacing sections of it with metal and making the pipes kinda of fit togther with the gfx. as far as inspection theres ways to get around anything inspection wise in pa, i can get away with no mufflers if i choose to, pa has some horribly writen inspection laws, they simply state you need a sound deading device, which leaves that up to interpation of the inspection officer, and a cat can technically be considered a sound deading device, my auto teacher in high school had a 69 judge (pontiac 455)that had pure dual 3 inch straight pipes with nothing but the two cats to kill noise, it was insanely loud but 100% legal.

id say a set of two inch pipes with a 3 inch smooth glass pack, all chrome. cut out the trim so the pipe is closer to the body, but leave it in place where you can see it, and just use a high temp paint (realy easy if its black, just use grill or header paint)

o no no, the cats didnt kill any noise at all, atleast for our county the inspection book only states you need a sound deading device, and cats are considered a sound deading device, so he was practically just running straight pipes.

yea, cats do kill noise. my car has no muffler, but i still have a cat because its welded on. isnt all that loud when the music is on and windows up. but when im in town with the tops off and windows down, it gets loud when i get into it. my gf lives in a quiet area and i asked her to stay outside to tell me how long she could hear. just casual acceleration up to 55, and slowing and speeding up for some turns, she heard me about half a mile away, then heard me rev it a mile away.

yeah ill agree they do kill some noise, but not what your normal muffler would do, the car sounded realy great with just the cats, i wouldnt have changed it at all.
but anyways, no one find any picks with side pipes? i found two or three but they were all pretty crapply done.
