Hey Blackz, I understand the idea behind how the air dam relates to the cooling system, but could you elaborate? Im still kinda confused....

Short explaination: 3rd gen cars came with both a single & dual electric fans. The fans run only under 35MPH or about in traffic. If you look at the closed in front nose the only method to force air to the raditor at speed is by the front air dam. Remember, your fans are not on all the time (not the same as a flex fan on the dr belt) and the cooling air comes from under the nose. That is why you may run hot (220deg is normal) in traffic and you notice cooler temps at speed. So NO AIR DAM you run hot all the time.

At highway speeds, roll down your window. How much air is blowing on you? Now stick your hand, palm facing forward, just outside the window. You see how much more air is now hitting you? That little air dam is as crucial as your radiator.

wow that does make A LOT of since. I don't have one on mine and mine's over heating but that's also because my thermostat is stuck lol. But even before that it would over heat. Ive never seen one in person on a 3rd gen but, alot on the c4's.

I'm defiantly going to put that on the next thing on my list to buy.

And, good analogy ScottD!

RS, why would you take it off? the only thing it can do is benefit you. Send it over my way if your getting rid of it haha.

basicly, i topped out my 305 at 160 mph (145 on the speedo, larger tires, so it read slow). a week later it had a rod knock. drove it until i bought a new car, then took it down the road wot and the bottem end blew up. the 10 bolt, i have trans issues in my blazer that cause it to shift hard. spun a bit in first gear and it slammed into second as it grabbed traction and boom
