Default Running 220*F on camaro

My camaro is running 220*F I just changed the coolant and put a 180 stat on. No change. Is this normal or what should I do. Fan does work already checked.

yeah it's normal but you could get an aftermarket fan switch from jet that kicks on at a lower temp.

Once you start hacking into the ECM to control the fans with a manual switch, just leads to other problems. Since front of the raditor is hidden no one looks at it as a problem, but 20 yrs of crap on the cooling fins will make it run hot.

You can get a new, stock radiator for 100 bucks at Napa. Its a very easy swap and you will notice a cooling difference. 20 year old, gunked up radiators just arent as efficient as they need to be.

The gauge could be off too. I would verify that it's running hot with a manual gauge before you start throwing parts at it.

^^^ I think I will do this. It runs 220*F through town sometimes only 190-200 but on the interstate and highways it always runs 220-230*F It may not get up to 230 but it goes just a little over the 220 mark sometimes. To change the radiate will I lose all my bran new coolant?
