I have never had a problem when using tubing wrenches and putting them both on where they are close enough to squeeze with my hands to break them loose. Tubing wrenches work way better than an open end wrench. And when things get rounded there are some vice grips for that. It has one side a "U" shape and the other jaw fits in it so it kinda works on 3 sides.

At least you realized it beforehand. I cant tell you how many times Ive done things and a minute later said "damn, that could have gotten ugly....".then I count my fingers.....

I second the tube wrench idea. They work WAY better than a regular wrench. Spray it with
Liquid Wrench, let it sit, then hit it with a tubing wrench. It will come off.

Yes it is very dangerous, but, it works really well. I've used that method twice now. You just have to watch how much and where to apply the heat. It's pretty quick and easy.

well, i dont have a torch anyways. but the filter looked like it was installed just before i got the car. the owner told me he had a lot of things serviced while the car was in for the tranny, and looks like fuel lines and a filter were some of the things.
