Hey I bought one for $5.00 at the self serve dismantlers!
I doubt I would get that lucky again. The ***** at the register seen it had an electric motor and tried her best to charge me more but she could only find "rear latch" in her computer and could not get any more from me. Even tried to sell me a warrenty but I was so happy she was S.O.L. I said no!

You could simply disconnect it when you get the pull down in the closed position, and it'll be just like you didn't have it.

yeah my trunk motor went out also. im not sure but when i took it to a garage they said it was because it got slammed or closed too hard. instead of buying a new one they rigged it so it opens and closes like a regular trunk latch.

There is also a small switch on them that can be purchased from the dealer. They are not expensive. I had to replace mine. It moves with the latch and the movement caused the wires to break.
