Default Please explain the mysterious ways of my console clock!

My 82 'Maro has that nifty little console clock in it. (The wife thought it was some type of 'funny guage, hehehe...) When Im in the car, it works. When Im sitting in the car, working in something, it keeps me company, tick tick tick.....But when the car sits for a few hours, the clock, well, clocks out. There is no pattern, but when it sits for a few hours to overnight, I get to it and its always several hours behind. Anybody know a simple cure? (Dont say 'replace the clock' , that is not simple, there are no clocks on Ebay...)

That is a nice clock there isnt it. My dads 83 had one also. But he replaced the car with an 85 and the only thing with his clock was the second hand faded. Put a cup holder there.

there is a company in california that rebuilds factory gauges, right now the name eludes me. i had them rebuild a tach on a 1969 Pontiac Custom S and they were great people to deal with. do a search online for gauge rebuilders and i am cure you will find them.

I have similar problem, was told quartz movement only lasts so long. clock repair shop may be able to help. I have also noticed that the second hand has curled up causing it to drag on lens. hope this info helps
