Default Ok so fuuny sparkplug story

So today I change my plugs and wires. My friend and I get the plugs out and I find that the guy who had the car before me must have bben a dumbass because there were 3 different kinds. 3 bosch platinum 2s, 3 acdelcos, and 2 that didnt even have a brand on em. Plus my wires were so bad that the insulation on the outside cracked whenever i touched it. I replaced the plugs with splitfire ngks and put in taylor 7mm. Massive gains!!!

Well that guy is a dumbass!!! Most people quit if something is too hard. The 96 Camaro we're working on had the same situation. 3 AC Delco and 2 Bosh and 1 No name lol. He didn't have "MASSIVE" gains lol but it did help. Specially with fuel economy. We went with NGK Iridium plugs and Delco wires.

Very common occurence, especially if the car was serviced in a shoddy shop. Just get the thing running with as little effort as possible, and charge for the whole job.

Pete's right. The guy probably never worked on His own car, had Sombody tune it for Him, and poked His eyes out on the price.

I never had driven and 8cyl before this car so i didnt know that it was lagging, lol. but DAMN was she fast after the new plugs went in.

haha thats funny because i bought a camaro awhile back and started working on it the other day. i got this from a friend. so he said the car just stoped working on him and he says the timing chain is broke and he started to fix it. well after going threw all the crap he took off and actually fixing it and doing the ****ing timing. i got it back together and ready to fire. well its just turning over and nothing happening. so i get out and look at the plugs to start with well im missing a god damn spark plug. so i go buy a new set of ngks and come back to start replacing them. well the left side all had AC's then i get to the right well they had boches the 2 that were still there lol. and also my friend said he just replaced them and had "no clue" what happend to the one missing. well i get back in to see if theres a difference. same sound just turning over nothing happning. well i get out and check the distibutor. well **** the caps not even on. i tell my friend about that "well it was allittle lose". no it wasnt even bolted haha. well i get that on there and try again. same thing happening. well i spray some starting fluid in it and it fires up but dies once the starting fuild is used up. so now i think somethings wrong fuel wise. guesing fuel pump but not completly sure. so its a 1987 camaro with the 2.8 v6. are these known for fuel pump problems or shorts? im going to go back at it tomorrow when the sun comes back out. just thought i would share my story with you guys sence i was kinda pissed but laughing about it all. oh also you dont need a key to turn it over. OH and the speedo pointer is gone. ya luckily i only paid 300$ for it. its got front end damage just cozmetic. at first i was thinking of keeping it for later till i could throw something fun in it with perhaps a turbo. but now im just thinking of doing a turnaround and making a few dollars hopefully.

There's an inline fuse behind the battery on the passenger fender. See if it's actually in the case. It should be a 20 amp, if I'm not mistaken.

hmmmm are you talking about the little wire from the battery that grounds on the fender wall? i checked the fuses under the dash they looked good. but isnt there suppose to be a relay somewhere? im having troubles finding that. and running out of ideas besides droping the tank and checking the actual pump but dont feel like doing that right now. especially if i dont have to.
