some 305 questions
nearly EVERYTHING can bolt from a 305 to a 350. its the same block. but as i have learned on this site myself, the heads might take away power from your 350, not gain or even be what it could be with proper sized parts.
well see i have a 350 block but thats it..just the block and internals. and i was thinking bout putin that 350 in there but money is a little tight and i was wonderin if just for now if i could bolt everything up to the 350. would the 305 auto tranny work?
point of interest if they happen to be 305HO heads they will actually give you more horsepower over some stock 350 heads because of the smaller combustion chamber and relatively comparable intake runners and valve size. with some machine work tho 350 heads will definately out perform 305 heads in any situation. because of their smaller combustion chamber it limits the amount of machining that can be done. in my need for better performing GM heads, i'm convinced there are none. from what i have seen and read nothing can replace a good set of aftermarket aluminum. you just have to be careful not to go overboard with runner size. until recent times the best you could do was camel hump heads which came with oversized valves and slightly bigger intake runners. now it's not how much you can get but, how much you can handle. Sick
thats sweat... what i was thinkin was i was going to take the 305 heads an mill them to bring the compresion ratio up some 20k maybe.. slap them on the 350.. now the big question would have to be could i use a LT1 intake manifold? and will the stock 305 tranny work?
The LT1 is completely different than a normal 350. Different block, heads, intake etc. So stay away form those pieces for Your 350. If You'll be using the 305 heads, best to use the intake too,
