Default Ok so another electrical prob...

So Im drivin down the road a few days ago and I look down and Im goin about 65 down a back road. A few seconds later I look down again and my gauges arnt working. Any of them. So I go to a gas station for some light and noticed whenever I turn my lights on its tones(beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepppppp) like when u leave ur lights on with the key out of the ignition but with my keys actually in. So i check the fuses and the one that says gauges is blown so I change it out with another 10 amp and like 200ft down the road, POP! It blows again. So Im like ****!!! So I try a 30 amp fuse. Guess what? About 200ft POP! again so Im like double ****!!! I think its a short or a bad ground. My gauge lights work just the buzzer comes on and all gauges stop working. If you read this could you tell me if its either a short or bad ground and how to fix whichever it is? Whoever helps me ****in rocks because that beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepppppppppppppppppppp **** gets really annoying. Thanks>>

You either have a short to another wire or a bad device. I don't think you have a direct short to ground because if you dis the fuse will blow immediately. The problem is that besides the gauges, a bunch of other stuff is powered by that fuse.

So from what you said Its correct to assume its got to be a short somewhere? If it is that means that to wires are touching when they shouldn't be right or is there another kind of short?

It's possible that there's a short to ground occuring from a worn insulation that isn't connecting all the time, but it's more likely there's just a bad device, as Pete said. Pick up a book and find out what's all on that fuse, and just check it all out, and be on the lookout for lower than normal resistance accross the components you check.

And a short is any deviation in the set path for the electricity to follow, wether a wire touches a piece of frame, or there's a switch thats stuck in a certain position no matter where the toggle is. If electricity is flowing when or where it shouldn't, it's a short.
