Default Oil Pan removal and replacement

I have a 1989 Camaro with a V8 305. I have a new oil pan, gasket, oil and everything needed for the project. I have taken the motor mounts outs, freed the exhaust, removed the alternator, and got to the point where all the bolts are off the oil pan.

I cannot get the oil pan out from underneath. I used a cherry picker to raise up the engine, and the engine does not budge. Is there something I am missing here? I have heard about removing the trans cross member, but wasn't sure if that something I needed to do. If anyone could help me on this, please.

Do you have a manual? It’s been 30 years since I did warranty work on 3rd gens. I do not remember being able to do a V8 pan in the car. I pretty sure step one was pull the motor.

FYI I was asking if you had the repair manual (a book that telling you the factory defied step by step process.)

You tube is you friend. Search "3rd gen camaro oil pan removal" Seems like there are a lot of "if-then. base on which V8 you have and even if you have a lift.

It does seem like a lot of work to avoid pulling the motor when pulling the motor is not a big deal. If the engine was older I would be temped to pull the motor and do the front and rear main while I was in there.
