No spark
Ok I'm not getting a spark when I check my distributer cap. I know somethings not right because its not running. Its a 1985 stock 2.8 v6.
I know that if I'm not getting a spark its not good, but now what do I do? What do I need to get it running again?

Fisrt of all, if you want to do your own work, invest in a service manual, Haynes is a good start. Once you know what you are looking at, here are a few tests you can do.
1) Put the distributor cap back on.
2) Disconnect the center HT wire at the distributor end, and hold it abot 1/4" away from the engine block. Have some one crank the engine over & see if a nice fat blue spark is jumping out of the wire.
If there is no spark:
1) using a voltmeter, verify the presence of 12Volt at the input to the ignition coil, BAT terminal, (pink wire from ignition switch. Igniton swich has to be on. If you have no power, you just found the cause & u need to fix it.
2) If power is available hera are some possible causes. Bad ignition module, bad pick up coil, bad distributor, bad ignition coil, bad rotor, bad distributor cap.
