So on my 89 rallysport im trying to put a throttle bodie spacer on
but i do not have extra space between the hood and the breather.
and i cant change the style of the breather either because i run into the same problem?
any idea other then new hood?

use the TB spacer as a paper weight

 

they have air cleaners that are recessed in the middle where your TB connects to it. But you really wont see a BIG difference with a TBI setup. In all honesty, keep it how it is. But if your just wanting to piddle around. youll have to buy the recessed air cleaner.

 

The factory air cleaner assembly is already a drop base so an aftermarket one may not be of any help. Did you get a 1 inch spacer? I think you would only have 1/4" to maybe 1/2" of space to play with.

i dont think it will help MUCH is what im sayin. By all means if you want to then do it. But if clearance is a problem then youll need to get more of a drop in your air cleaner. i think ive seen as much as a 2 inch drop.. dont know how good that would work, but i think ive seen it none the less.

 

No matter how much of a drop you can find the important area is measured from the top of the TBI to the top of the cleaner lid. The stock cleaners do not have a lot of space to start with. Pull the cleaner off, put the lid on and squeeze it together like as if it was bolted on and see how much space is there. What good will it be doing if you cut off the air? A big element is more filtering area but means nothing when the lid is too close to the top of the TB

 

yeah i looked into those throttle bodyspacers and are theyre goodfor is being a paper weight. i know they make bigger throttle bodys and fuel injectors that put out more fuel which will actually give you more performance
