Default New starter.. same issue

i recently purchased a new starter, it required no shims. it fired up around 8 times, great powerfull starts, and not grinding like befor. flex plates in excellent condition. now it goes grrrrrrrind vrroom.. its quite embarrasing. any ideas? it didnt do that when i got the car, i did the head gaskets, not touching the starter then after we did the head gaskets it seemed to start happening.. bolts are tight. battery at the time was 200cca that may have caused it to, not sure. any ideas?

check the wire to the solenoid. it may not be sending enough power to fully engage the drive gear before engaging the starter motor. also, even though the bolts are tight, check the fitment against the block. i ran into an issue with an aftermarket starter catching just the edge of the oil pan and created issues. after you check those both out and if it still does it, take it back for a new one

yeah ill try that on my day off, make sure all the connections are tight and see if im getting enough voltage down there. try eliminating some problems. i was also gonna put a digital camera down there since i dont have 2 bodies to check whats going on. my batterys on its way out too, at the time it only had a max of 250 cca. i charged it up back to 600 so well see.
