Do you normally only see 40hp ish gains, or can you shell out cash for more expensive tunes? Its amazing how much cheaper(I know age plays a factor as well) these tunes are compared to diesels....

no, its not like a programmer for a diesel. its completely different. a diesel tuner simply adjusts the timing of the injection and the amount of fuel injected. diesel engines respond a lot more to a programmer. as for cars, the ecm can only adjust so much for modifications. minor bolts ons like headers and exhaust and ignition upgrades dont require a tune. more in depth things like cam, heads, and higher compression do. but putting a chip into a stock engine may net you about 10 hp. into a well modified engine, it can be a difference as to whether or not it runs, not just a power increase

The best Prom (chip) for your ECM is the stock factory one, Only reason to change is, if you made some serious mods to your engine, Otherwise forget it, there is no magic bullet that is going going to increase your horsepower.
