If I were to get a rear axle off a 3rd gen camaro with 4 wheel disc will it all bolt up fine to another 3rd gen with rear drum if all I do is swap axels other then having to redo the lines??

 

ive heard its a direct bolt up, but its 4 inches wider, so 2 inches on each side...

 

Don't the brakes swap over by themselves? If you're buying it for the gears as well, then you can swap your gears into your current axle.

 

It will be a direct replacement. Only change will be a new proportioning valve for the (4) wheel disc brakes and depending on the year the fittings on the brake lines may be different. Also for your info the early Disc rears (pre 1989) need to be updated with a repair kit from GM..

Now if you have a BW 9-bolt you will need the parking brake cables. Picture of 89 BW brakes.

How will you know if a car has a BW rear end as aposed to a regular one.

 

The Borg Warner has a 9 bolt cover, where the chevy has a 10 bolt.
