Hey guys I have a 91 camaro 305 tbi and im wanting to carb it. Dont really have time for the tbi vs. carb argument so lets skip ahead to what carb I need to get. I definetley want an edelbrock 4 barrel but that all I know. I dont know anything about vaccum advances or electric chokes or anything. Its a stock 305 and I know I need a intake too. Please tell me what I should be looking for, the better gas mileage the better. Also can I just unplug the leads to the tbi sprayers and put the carb in or u know, how would i go about doing that? This is the kit I think you'd want. It's a dual plane so you'll get a little bit more torque outta it and still get top end power too. The 600 CFM flow will allow more air in yet give you enough responose. It's a manual choke so you'll have to drill a hole for the choke cable.

Do I already have a manual choke in my car or do I make one or how does that work. Also what does "vaccum secondary" mean? I know very little about carbs so ull have to explain this out to me if u have the time.

 

You do not have a choke in your car. The computer along with sensors work the higher idle at warm up.
A carb has primary and secondary throttle butterflys. The primary work of your throttle cable and the secondarys work off either linkages along with the cable or vacuum.

So what do I need to do to make this kit work in place of a tbi unit on a 305?
