Default MAJOR oddity?

alrighty, the previous owner of my car swore it was an 85. however, all the rpo codes, the vin, and the registration says 86. however, it is silver, and was orginally silver from the factory (under the carpet, under trim peices, engine bay, etc). according to this site:
http://www.iroczone.com/techartspottersguide.html#year
1985 was the only year they came in silver? my car was made august of 86. it has the hatch mounted third brake light and 145 mph speedo

check the paint code in your glove box, or center console, whatever you wish to call it. Then use the code to check it out on a few sites if you can

exactly right madmike, irocs didnt come in that color for 86 but every other model did, infact there was almost 12000 of them painted silver. for the z28 they came in two silver versions, 1-Silver with a grey stripe, or 2-silver with a dark red stripe.

here you go bud
http://www.camarosource.ca/php/camar...&year=1986

and if your build date is aug 86, your def not a 85 infact you would have been one of the last 86's, as i beleive in those years the new models began in september. when i bought my 86 the previous owner insisted he bought it factory with a 350 and a 5 speed, neither could be true, dont go off the owners words as concrete their usually full of crap

alrighty, thanks guys. i was thinking maybe that was only for the iroc's. the previous owner was a bit experimental with the drugs, but was a cool guy. had a 1000cc race bike and a trick 80's yota, c-notched with bags and a custom hard top convertable.

however, i have only seen one other silver camaro, and that belongs to another member here.

my 86 z28 was orignally silver, was teal when i got it but the pans on the inside where silver and the rpo codes verified it, mine was actually suppose to be silver and red. theres also a silver coupe that cruises around here. it wasnt a rare color, but it wasnt the most popular that seems to have gone to Red, then White, and then depending on the years some shade of blue
