LG4 to TPI swap
So my father wants to swap out the almighty LG4 305 in his '83 Z28 with a 350 TPI that came out of a '91 Camaro that is for sale. The 350 TPI engine is complete and comes with intake, emissions manifolds, OE wire harness, injectors, ECM computer, and a complete 700R4 transmission. If we purchase this combo, we plan on using the engine like I said and bolting it to the T5 transmission that the car is already equipped with. We don't plan on including the 700R4 into this project. So my question is does this package include everything that we need to perform the swap if we decide to purchase the package? And how difficult is this swap going to be?

sounds like you got everything you should need. the later model block (as i just found out) moves the oil pressure switch and sending unit to above the oil filter. you will need to lengthen the harness and get adapter fittings as they are a different thread pitch. im going to try lowes tomorrow to see if i can get the parts i need to run that. also, running the t5, you will need the flywheel and clutch (if different) from an 87 and later engine. the switch to a one peice rms mandates that. im sure there are some minor things you will have to change, and have fun routing the wiring harness
Yeah I read about how fun it is to route the wiring harness. I think my father and I are going to pass on the TPI motor. We think that it would be easier to just buy a longblock 350 and use the LG4 carb. I read that it is also easier to make more power that way than with the TPI.

Injection will give you better starts, better mid range, better idle.
You can run a bigger cam with a smoother idle on an injected engine since it does not require vacuum to operate. It's electronic.
