just a few shots of what it looked like when I went to collect the car. and of the car and my master craft sitting in my "toy shop" and this shop is far to small.

I would just drop crate 355 in it ,the cost to put ls engine there will be 2 times that with the same hp or less ,an used engines ,I would not chance it ,though they do make an ls block for carbs or tbi ,cost to rebuild one you got a crate then some for all the other work you need to do ,its an 89 will still be wolf in sheeps skin no matter what you put back in it other then the 305 ,unless that's built right

95camaro409 has a point. You could drop in a 6.0L with a carb and be on your way. Wolf in sheep's clothing.....

The only issue with dropping a 6 or 7L in it is, Here In Oz and specificly My state of new south wales, our good friends the "BUZZ KILL TEAM" commonly known as the police, take great delite in picking off older, "sportier", muscle type cars owned by rather young blokes. I have had enough run ins with previous cars to know what to do with them down here. maybe down the track it might get the crate motor treatment. But for now to get it through the registration process back to the stock 305 with a TPI

350 305 same block sbc go from 283 to 454 same block the hp from those 305 cars is like 135hp less then most v6 cars from mid to late 90s to now ,hear usa from one state to another can be the same thing as one country to another as well

I don't think I follow what your saying. Small blocks went from 265 to 400 CI

Big blocks went from 396 to 502. the difference I'm lead to believe is the big blocks are 2 inches longer in the block length. I know this as Ive got both SBC ( ive got a 305 and a 350) and BBC ( a tunnel rammed 462)

the original 265 in the corvettes could be distinguished by not having an external oil filter. I believe some of these engines also made it into the famous tri-five chevs.

Then if you want to go further then you can start playing with generations of blocks, series' of heads, 2 or 4 bolt caps and the list goes on.

now Once the engines out Ill be able to see what engine is actually have.
(I believe its an LB9 170 HP) engine. I need to find the paint code so as I can get the paint ordered. and the a gearbox rebuild kit

If anyones got any advice or tips......Im all ears and listening. And as Always Ill be collecting photos.

On a side Note I picked a factory finished set of 15x7. WooHoo orginal wheels.

well Some further developements have come to light through talking to the right people/. being that the F body came out factory as a 5.7ltr Im legally allowed to put a 5.7 back in it without any engineers reports or inspections...............So im now looking for a doner car with a 5.7 and a 6 speed box that will be surgically removed and grafted into the camaro. going to be a long project but with the LS motor in it i think it will be far easier in maintenance and servicing rather than the old 5 ltr. and the LSs make far better power and lighter that the cast iron 305. only time will tell.
