Intake Manifold question.
Hey, im swapping my stock 305 Chevy intake manifold for a edelbrock intake manifold, now the guy at lordco(auto parts store) said that my carb might need an adapter or something if my old intake is different from my new one where the carb goes, i don't really understand, but how do i check if it will be OK for my carb to go on my new manifold, and it not be different from my old manifold. Sorry its confusing, i worded my sentences weird lol, but if u understand me, any help is awesome.
AND are there any tips for replacing my manifold, or is it just straight forward. i know ihave to mark where the dist. is for when i reinstall it. but any other tips or confusing things i might run into.

The new manifold specs should tell you which carb flange it has, Quadrajet, Holley, Edelbrock? If you have a Quadrajet carb for instance, and the manifold is for a Holley or Edelbrock, you'll have to use an adapter plate.
When installing the manifold, don't use the end oil galley gaskets (front & rear ones). They have a tendency of squishing out over time, especially if there was any machining done to the surface of the heads or block deck. Install the manifold gaskets, and lay a good 1/4" bead of black RTV on the front & rear ledges, and up to meet the tabs on the manifold gaskets. And be sure to lower the manifold down in place as straight as possible.

are either your intake or carb a spread bore? that means the primaries are very small and the secondaries are rather large, or are all 4 barrels the same size? the help from previous posters will help. the easiest way to know if they fit is to try it
