Default input please

I recently bought an 84 off somebody i know. I was told it was an IROC but Someone else told me it's just a Z28. How can I figure out which one it is? Btw the car doesnt have a motor or transission. It's just a shell I got for 200. I also would like to know how hard it would be to put a 400 small block in it and will a Turbo 350 tranny bolt up to it? I'm completely restoring this car because as of right now it's a primered rust bucket. any input would be nice so I can get some good ideas for the car. I've always been in the 4cyl import scene. I've built a few eclipses into the 11's and now i'm trying something new. A pic of the car is in the attatchment. I'm in the process now of stripping all 6 layers of paint ooff, fixing the body, and taking the body off the chasis and aking sure ALL rust is gone and repaired.

Yes they will mate, but you'd be better off using a 4L60E. 1st is a lower ratio, and you get overdrive plus driveshaft, crossmember, speedo cable, and torque arms bolt right up with the correct tailshaft housing. Also, I'm not sure how you plan to get the body of the chassis.

the turbo 350 does bolt up, but you need to buy a conversion driveshaft and crossmember. best bet is to buy a 700r4 because the 4l60e requires a computer to shift (the e stands for electronic control). if you plan on making large amounts of power, you may want to look into a stronger rear as well. and good luck seperating the body from the frame because its a unibody car.

It depends on what was in there origonally. If a 700R4 was in there you can get a 4l60 non-e and just rewire a pigtail connector in there or even just re-use the 4 prong converter lock up switch no problem. I did a similar swap and had no issues. But, it all depends on what was in there first.

Just add frame connectors to it and that will take care of any issue you may have with the Unibody.
